Roy Apps
Children’s Author - Scriptwriter - Dramatist - Lyricist

CPD, Writing Projects and Able Writers' Groups
CPD
Roy regularly leads CPD sessions for staff. Often, the focus here is practical and creative; giving teachers the opportunity to try out, enjoy and reflect on some of the creative writing activities we undertake with children and students.
Writing Projects
Roy has led children's writing projects at venues such as The Museum of Canterbury, Shakespeare’s Globe and the National Gallery. Longer writing projects can also be school-based and can be intensive - say over the course of a week -or consist of a number of visits during the course of a term or a school year. Whatever the length of the project, the outcome will lead to a publication or a performance.
Children become real authors
Publication, in the form a short book, enables children to become real authors. Roy works closely with The Little Books Company, who specialise in publishing books of children’s and students’ writing for schools.
Performance writing
Roy’s experience as a scriptwriter, lyricist and dramatist has led him to become involved in helping schools write plays, films, audio material and opera.
Words & Music
With composer John Webb, Roy runs Words & Music ‘mini-projects’ to enable schools to write their own school song.
Able Writers Groups
Able Writers’ Groups give teams of talented young writers the opportunity to spend the day with a professional writer, usually three times a year. For more details, contact Shelley Lee at Authors’ Abroad shelley@caboodlebooks.co.uk
